You don’t need me to tell you that this book is good. You already know that it’s one of the best children’s books ever written. If you know Latin, you’ll enjoy this translation published by Bolchazy-Carducci. Translator Richard A. LaFleur, aka “Doctor Illa Flora” renders Maurice Sendak’s words into accurate, accessible Latin, which is clear enough for advanced Latin students to read easily. There are a few gerunds and subjunctives thrown in, so newer Latin students may need some grammar help. The prospect of Ubi Fera Sunt might be enough to motivate anyone to learn gerunds, though, so keep it on your shelf as an incentive to study. - Krishni Burns
