The book is a rhyming introduction to the twelve Olympian gods designed for kids as young as eighteen months. The book was originally published in Greek, but it is available as an English translation. The English translation is written in rhyming couplets. Although the rhymes aren’t very exciting, it will help familiarize very young children with the gods’ names and concerns. A solid background in Greek mythology is still essential to understanding much world literature, and this book will give kids a head start. However, the book’s real virtue is its interactive features. There are well constructed sliding inserts in all the pages that reveal additional illustrations. These slides are sturdy enough for proto-readers to practice their fine motor skills, and the changing images will allow them to experiment with object permanence. It’s a fun experience for kids of literally any age. — Krishni Burns
