Taurus Rex is a simple story about not underestimating others just because you are big and they are small. It drifts into fable territory as the Taurus learns that just because he’s the most powerful animal in the pasture doesn’t mean he won’t need a little help from his friends.

This book is the third in Bolchazy-Carducci’s “I Am Reading Latin Stories” series. The full series has four Latin novels, increasing in difficulty. The target audience is kids aged 5-9, with a basic knowledge of Latin grammar, but any new Latin students will benefit from using them for reading practice. This book has some simple indicative subclauses, a few different tenses, and lots of practice reading case endings. The vocabulary is a little more challenging than the previous books in the series, but second semester College students and other second level Latinists will be able to figure everything out thanks to the helpful illustrations. – Krishni Burns
